One Hundred Views Of The City

This project began as a way for me to learn more about the water-based Japanese printmaking technique —mokuhanga.

Scenes from the streets around my new home in the Twin Cities, MN have provided an abundance of visual inspiration.  While the goal is not to finish a hundred of these, the title is a nod to Ukiyo-e masters Hiroshige and Hokusai who famously published print series with One Hundred Views of Edo and Mount Fuji.

Through trial and error (and occasional success) I continue to learn as I test a wide assortment of wood blocks, tools, inks, pigments, papers, and methods.
